2018 National Public Lands Day Bioblitz at Sequoia & Kings Canyon

seq.jpg

Come help generate a community based species survey (Bioblitz) of Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks.

This is a weekend long, park-wide BioBlitz centered around National Public Lands Day. It will be a great opportunity to connect to these parks through community science. On Saturday September 22nd park entrance will be free as part of a nationwide celebration of our public lands.

The free platform iNaturalist will used to collect observations of organisms and all you need is a cell phone and the app loaded onto your phone to participate. Here is a short video on how iNaturalist works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xENz1xRu0wI. You can download the app (Apple, Android). Please download and make an account before coming to the park because wifi and cell service is limited in the park. You can follow what is being seen during the BioBlitz and help with identifications here.

10:00 am Saturday Lodgepole Visitor Center - iNaturalist training and oreintation

More events to be announced - Moth lights, mushroom walks, etc.
