How many socks have you thrown out because of a couple holes, when 80% of the sock is just fine? We’ll provide tools and instructions to patch those pesky holes and worn spots to get more miles out of your socks.
The clothing industry is one of the most wasteful industries on the planet. It creates more greenhouse gas emissions than all international flights and maritime shipping combined, and less than 1% of textiles produced for clothing are recycled into new clothing. Mending clothing and getting more use out of it is one way to keep it out of the landfill- plus you’ll save money, hone your crafty skills, and it’s a great group activity!
What to bring:
worn socks that might still have some life
empty & clean beer or soda bottle OR a dead light bulb (the globe kind, not the spiral kind). These are to put in your sock so it stays taut while you mend.
Snacks! (optional)
We’ll provide the needles, thread, instruction, and have some extra beer bottles / light bulbs on hand.
