Fern ID & Keying Workshop

  • Oaktown Native Plant Nursery 702 Channing Way Berkeley, CA, 94710 United States (map)

How do you tell the difference between a lady fern and a wood fern? What the heck is an indusium? Why do goldback ferns have gold backs?

Join us for a free workshop on fern identification at Oaktown Native Plant Nursery
Oaktown staff member and CCNH naturalist Angela Pai will talk briefly about fern ecology, review terminology, and lead you through keying out some of the ferns at Oaktown. Beginners are welcome!

Bring your hand lens and Jepson Manual, if you have either. There will be hand lenses and smartphone macro clip-on lenses for you to borrow or buy.
This event is part of Oaktown’s fall annual sale, and there will be plenty of native California ferns available, of course!

Free, $20 suggested donation. NOTAFLOF.
